Intel Core i3-3220 3.3GHz 3MB Cache Socket LGA1155 Desktop CPU review

This is a great budget PC CPU for the socket 1155 platform, an ideal board would be the Gigabyte H61M-S2PV featured in our recent review.

If a quad-core i5 is not a requirement for your latest build, then why not check out this great CPU? It has a wealth of features and should be reliable, being Intel. Having used Intel processors for 20 years now, since the pre-pentium days, I can vouch for that.

Energy efficient and CPU Cooling

This processor should not get overly hot as it’s 55watt TDP (Thermal Design Power), as opposed to some higher-end CPU’s, that are 95watt. It will generate less heat and use less energy, a plus all-round.

Memory requirements

This processor utilises the DDR3 memory specification of  1330/1660 bus speed, so should be quick in operation

64 BIT

This processor is 64 BIT capable, meaning that you could easily use Windows 64 bit OS’es like Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and utilise more ram than 3.5GB 32 gb limit.

The Intel i3-3220 features the Intel HD 2500 graphics architecture, requiring a motherboard that supports it. This would be a good CPU for everyday computing as well as light gaming, with only the motherboards graphics. If you wish to do heavier gaming with this CPU, we would recommend adding a desecrate graphics card.
